Craig Nixon bludgeoned lan Menzies, 60, to death - then told a relative how his stricken dad "begged like a dog" not to hurt him.
The 38-year-old was caught after he fled to London and had blown the victim's cash.
Nixon, who already had a violent past, was caged for life after he pled guilty to murdering Ian at their flat in Scott Street, Perth, on June 3, 2021.
His appearance at the High Court in Glasgow came more than 30 years after his mother's body was discovered in the city's Pollok Park.
The suspected murder of Diane McInally, 23 is still unresolved.
Nixon was six at the time of her death.
In 2017, he claimed he had new evidence to force police to re-investigate it.
But he is now behind bars. Prosecutor Michael Macintosh told the court how Nixon went to live with Ian.
