Political rivals accuse Scotland Secretary of protecting seat in Lords

ALISTER Jack was slammed yesterday for failing to back a report which said Boris Johnson lied to Parliament about Partygate. 

Labour and the SNP accused the Scotland Secretary of making “lame excuses” for the former PM in a bid to secure a place in the House of Lords.

Tory MP Jack was one of several Government ministers who didn’t back the Privileges Committee’s recommendations. The motion passed after 354 MPs voted in favour of the committee’s report, which said Johnson should have been suspended from the Commons for 90 days if he hadn’t resigned already.

It also recommended he should not given an ex-MPs parliamentary pass.
