Legs amputation dad: I thought I had a cold

A DAD who thought he was suffering from a common cold had both of his legs amputated after he was diagnosed with sepsis.

Mathew James Hicks, from Turriff in Aberdeenshire, was taking paracetamol at home to combat a temperature when he became unwell in March.

It wasn't until the 34-year-old appeared to be in a confused state that his wife Rachael called an ambulance.
