Mone's 'regrets denying links to £200m PPE firm

BARONESS Mone says she regrets misleading our sister paper the Mirror three years ago about her role in the PPE Medpro scandal.

When the paper revealed links between her and the newly formed firm which won more than £200million in Covid contracts, her spokesman said: "Baroness Mone has no role or involvement in PPE Medpro."

But in her first interview in two years, released today, Tory peer Baroness Mone said: "I made an error in what I said to the press.

"I regret not saying to the press straight away, 'Yes, I am involved and the Government knew I was involved." She added: "I was a liaison person. I brought it all together."

The documentary by former detective Mark Williams-Thomas was funded by PPE Medpro, but he retained full editorial independence.

The film reveals Baroness Mone and her businessman husband Doug Barrowman have been interviewed by National Crime Agency officers, who launched an investigation into PPE Medpro more than two years ago.

The bra tycoon is suspected of conspiracy to defraud, fraud by false representation, and bribery. She denies all the allegations.
