PHANTOM OP RIPPED MY WORLD TO PIECES

A "PHANTOM" operation carried out by shamed surgeon Sam Eljamel has left a nurse's life in tatters.

Pam Woodfield, 47, is calling for the Scottish Government to ensure a public inquiry begins this year.

She said: "It's ripped my world apart.

All my whole life I wanted to be a nurse and to have to give it up is horrendous.

Pam suffered headaches after being born with hydrocephalus, water on the brain, and had a shunt fitted to drain fluid.

In 2010 Eljamel operated to install a regulating device, called an anti-siphon, to prevent fluid coming through too quickly. It was a decade later before Pam learned the device was never installed.

During the op Eljamel nicked the wall of her stomach which led to a hernia that is now causing her problems.
