The keeper was only fit enough for a place on Derek McInnes' bench before the international break and pulled out of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad to get extra time to recover from a hip problem.

Kieran O'Hara has impressed between the sticks since stepping in but with McCrorie back in business, assistant boss Paul Sheerin admitted the fight is now on to be the main man ahead of this weekend's return to Premiership action against St Mirren.

Sheerin said: "Robby is there, I think he should be OK. I know he's been making the bench but in terms of fitness he's certainly a lot better now.
