A MAN who was sexually abused by Celtic Boys Club founder Jim Torbett has told how he was thrown out of the club after his parents confronted the vile pervert more than 50 years ago.
Gordon Woods, who was just 13 when he was targeted by the paedophile, has demanded Celtic FC "be held responsible for the attacks suffered by young players - as he was told he was "part of the Celtic family".
Yesterday Torbett, 75, was found guilty of four charges of sexually abusing the young player after a trial at the High Court in Inverness.
Last night Gordon, 68, who waived his right to anonymity, told the Record said: "My mother told me that my father had found a letter in my room that I'd addressed but never sent to Torbett, where I asked him to stop hurting me.
"I then remembered that there was a night when Torbett had come to my house and I was sent to my room. I heard raised voices and when I went down, Torbett was gone. My parents had confronted him.
"The following week Torbett told me never to come back to Celtic Boys Club." He added: "The perpetrator has been found guilty and the perpetrator has been punished. But I believe Celtic should be held responsible.
"When I was at the boys club I was told I was part of the 'Celtic family'. So Celtic need to be held accountable.
"Children's lives were destroyed because of the abuse that happened at that club." Gordon was targeted by Torbett up to 40 times between 1967 and 1968.
He was the victim of attacks carried out in Torbett's car, at a flat and a toy shop in Glasgow.
