Starmer won't back down on 2-child cap

KEIR Starmer has doubled down on his refusal to scrap the two-child cap on benefits if he becomes the next prime minister.

The Labour leader insisted he wouldn’t make “unfunded commitments” ahead of next year’s general election – but hinted the policy could be “fairer”.

Speaking yesterday alongside Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar during a by-election campaign visit to Rutherglen, near Glasgow, Starmer warned the party would inherit “a very badly damaged economy” due to Tory incompetence which was “nothing like 1997” – the year Labour last won power at Westminster.
