SCOTT CUMMINGS reckons it's time Scotland took "the next step" by proving they can compete with rugby's big guns starting on Sunday against world champions South Africa.

The Scots got their Autumn Nations Series campaign off to a flying start at the weekend with a 57-17 win over Fiji.

But Cummings knows that the Springboks will be a much tougher nut to crack when they visit Murrayfield.

Glasgow lock He said: "The Fijians are big guys and they hit hard and carry hard at you. So in that sense it's definitely a good sort of prep for what we're going to face on Sunday.

"But South Africa is a step up. We'll be expecting a tough challenge. They've been backto-back world champions. We're going to be playing against some of the best-but we're excited for it.
