The outside negativity surrounding Antonio Conte's high-flyers hit new levels in midweek after they came from behind to win 2-1 in Marseille - and finish top of their Champions League group.
That was the fifth game in a row they had conceded first - leaving many pundits blaming manager Conte's dull tactics for persistently sluggish starts.
But ahead of Liverpool's visit to North London this afternoon, Doherty hit back at the snipers so keen to point the finger at the Italian coach.
The Spurs wing-back said: "I don't think we've been as bad as people are saying. They're jumping on that bandwagon a bit.
'We are through in the Champions League, top of our group. And third in the Premier League.
"It's just the way these games have unravelled. It's not like we're set up to allow this to happen to us.
