RICKY HATTON has told critics to back off Daniel Dubois and give the British fighter the credit he deserves.
Hatton, a former multiple world champion at light-welterweight, reckons the Londoner has proved his worth.
And he even says he would not be surprised if Dubois produced an upset when he meets Oleksandr Usyk for the heavyweight crown in Poland on Saturday night.
Compared to fellow Brits Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury, Dubois doesn’t get much attention but Hatton told Genting Casino: “Dubois deserves credit and a little bit more respect.
“He’s battled up to No.1 contender. He’s worked hard after that defeat by Joe Joyce, took that on the chin and got himself back to where he is today.
“It’s a bit disrespectful to write him off – people have been moving too quickly on that.
