BRITAIN is primed for its first "soft heatwave" of the year as Easter sunshine makes way for 25C splendour.

Holidaymakers will bask in glorious blue skies today and most of tomorrow, with highs of 18C.

And although heavy downpours and strong winds are predicted for Easter Monday, conditions will pick up again before a blast of warm weather next weekend.

Forecaster Jim Dale, from British Weather Services, revealed temperatures could then rise to the early or even mid-20s Celsius after next Saturday. He said: "We do get heatwaves in April, it does happen.
