MY on/off boyfriend is only interested in me when he’s on the up and things are going well. 

He texts me and we go dancing. He finds parties and we stay up all hours drinking, laughing and making out.

When he’s on top form, there’s no one to touch him; he’s funny; generous and makes me scream.

But when he’s not earning much or his family are being difficult, then he retreats into his shell. He doesn’t respond to messages and I feel cast adrift.

I yearn for a fully rounded relationship. I want him to know that I’m here for him, for the good times and the bad.

In February, he was riding high. He was flush from a bonus and whisked me away to Las Vegas. We had a brilliant time at an adults-only hotel.
