SIR Keir Starmer vowed the “work of change begins immediately” as he entered Downing Street yesterday.

In his first address to the nation as Prime Minister, the 61-year-old Labour leader promised to “rebuild Britain”, fixing issues such as the crumbling NHS, crime and sky-high energy bills.

Sir Keir’s bulging in-tray also includes overcrowded prisons, immigration and a potential clash with unions over public sector pay.

He insisted he would “unite our country” and “end the era of noisy performance” following his party’s landslide election victory over Rishi Sunak, inset, and the Tories.
