He is going to celebrate by taking a couple of days to decompress, immerse himself in studying other coaches, and undertake a computer course before World Cup qualifying gets underway next year.
As for the staggering revival he has overseen – three wins and three draws – after taking over a team that couldn’t manage to beat Gibraltar during the summer, he believes he is only just starting.
Despite a playing career in which some fracas or another erupted around him frequently – the question was ‘when’ not ‘if’ he would lose his cool when he was promoted to No.1 in his own right.
