Exeter wing Feyi-Waboso's smart break helped set the platform for Marcus Smith's final-play drop-goal that snatched a 23-22 win at a rocking Twickenham on Saturday.
Just 10 months ago, Feyi-Waboso was on loan at Taunton in a National League One relegation scrap. At the weekend, he starred in a statement win to build belief in head coach Borthwick. The 21-year-old wing shared the final victory with 37-year-old Danny Care, winning his 100th cap, and who made his senior rugby debut in 2003, just months after Feyi-Waboso's birth.
Borthwick maintained all week that England could upset the overwhelming odds of an Ireland victory and derail Andy Farrell's side's shot at an historic consecutive Six Nations Grand Slam. The England boss also insisted that his 20th match at the helm must be considered just the fourth game into a total rebuild, seeing as his previous games in charge were with last autumn's World Cup as the sole focus.
After masterminding such a momentous win, one that marked only Ireland's third loss in 23 Tests, Borthwick has earned the right to talk in those terms.
