EV brands need todo more for women

"I'd rather poke my eyes out than try to get my head around electric cars," sighed a mum at my son's school gates last week. It's a common refrain: women don't like buying cars, and the thought of an electric car is even worse.

Why? The gender gap is huge when it comes to plugging in: a third of men are thinking about going electric, versus just a fifth of women, according to a recent Auto Trader report.

Of the thousands of drivers questioned, 16 per cent of men who responded owned an electric car, but just 7 per cent of women did. But why are women not spearheading the electric car revolution? Like all consumer choices, it comes down, primarily, to confidence.
