He declined to be drawn into the case of five Just Stop Oil protesters jailed for up to five years. But in a more general message, he told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I understand the motivation of some of those people of Just Stop Oil — they care about the climate crisis.
“But their tactics are disastrous in terms of persuading people to come to our cause.”
More than 1,200 artists, athletes and academics, though, have condemned the “injustice” of sentences handed to five Just Stop Oil activists for peaceful protests.
