Awards season began in earnest with the 81st Golden Globes taking place in Hollywood last night. British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, the man behind Oppenheimer, was named best director and Irish star Murphy took home best actor in a drama for his role as the father of the atomic bomb.
Oppenheimer won five awards. It was also named best drama motion picture, with best-supporting actor going to Robert Downey Jr. The thriller also starred British actresses Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh.
Poor Things was named best musical or comedy, with Stone, who plays Bella xter a child/woman experiment created by a scientist handed the award for best female actor in a musical or comedy.
