Mrs Zelenska said Putin and other senior Russian officials were responsible for the abduction of thousands of Ukrainian children.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the president in March on charges related to the illegal deportation of about 20,000 children to Russia or occupied areas of Ukraine. Russia is not a member of the court and rejects its jurisdiction.
Speaking publicly about the charges for the first time, Ms Zelenska told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “We are all waiting [for Putin to be arrested] but it’s not only him.
“There are thousands of people who are undermining the rights of children — human rights. This is scary. Nineteen thousand Ukrainian children have now been illegally taken to Russia.
