He was forced to pull out of the series due to a slipped disc which left him paralysed for four days, but returned to dance with Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond in the 2015 Christmas special.
Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, who danced with him for a Children In Need special in 2011, became emotional as she announced Windsor’s death to viewers.
She said: “Robin was larger than life and I fell in love with him and fell in love with dancing when I danced with him back then.
