RAHEEM STERLING is flying back to Qatar to rejoin the England squad at the World Cup.
Chelsea forward Sterling missed Sunday’s 3-0 last-16 win over Senegal, returning to England that morning to be with his family, following a break-in at his home in Surrey.
But the FA today confirmed that Sterling will rejoin the England squad tomorrow, ahead of Saturday’s quarter-final against France.
Sterling was not present for training today and, although he has made himself available to face the defending champions, he is likely to start on the bench. Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden both impressed on Sunday and are expected to keep their places alongside captain Harry Kane.
Southgate revealed after the Senegal game that Sterling had been “shaken” by the raid on his home.
