Suella's Rwanda plan is like rule by Putin, claims top Tory

Damian Green, leader of the One Nation group of Tory MPs at the centre and Left of the party, unleashed the withering attack on the former home secretary. The Government's own Rwanda plan, to deport migrants who cross the Channel in small boats, was shredded at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, which branded it unlawful.

Rishi Sunak responded with a new blueprint which included a fresh treaty with Rwanda and rushing emergency legislation through Parliament to declare the East African country as safe to send asylum seekers to despite the ruling by Britain's top judges.

But Mrs Braverman, who was sacked by the Prime Minister on Monday, dismissed his latest plans as "tinkering".
