IVAN TONEY was today set to be recalled to Gareth Southgate’s England squad after his betting ban was lifted, but there was not expected to be a place for Kalvin Phillips amid his nightmare start at West Ham.
The England manager was also set to keep the faith with struggling pair Aaron Ramsdale and Marcus Rashford in his final squad before naming a provisional group for this summer’s European Championship finals.
Southgate always kept the door open for Toney during his eight-month suspension for breaching a raft of FA betting regulations, and the 27-year-old’s Euros dream is now looking like a strong possibility.
