Dehradun: Two arrested for murder of ex-ONGC official

DEHRADUN:

The accused, identified as Naveen Kumar Chaudhary (36) from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and Anant Jain (29) from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh were arrested from a flat in a residential colony in Dehradun.

"We also recovered the victim's wallet, his ATM card and other identification documents from them," said Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. "The accused had disposed of their clothes and a paper cutter used in the crime."

The victim, identified as 76-year-old ONGC official Ashok Kumar Garg, was stabbed to death around on Monday evening. The incident took place at around 7.45 pm at the victim's home where he lived alone.

According to neighbours, the suspected killers yelled "password" before the incident took place.

A first information report (FIR) was registered under section 103 (1) (punishment for murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Basant Vihar police station based on the complaint of the victim's brother Adesh Kumar Garg.

Dehradun police's probe into the case revealed that the accused had come to know about the victim's financial status from the passbook lying on his table. The passbook allegedly revealed that there was a lot of money in his bank account. Police said the accused allegedly stabbed the victim with a paper cutter after he refused to share his ATM pin.
