Mishra was detained from outside a hotel in Lucknow around midnight on Saturday and later handed over to the Prayagraj police, a senior officer said. "Legal proceedings against Vijay Mishra are underway," deputy commissioner of police (city), Prayagraj, Deepak Bhukar said, adding that the accused was arrested by officers from the Dhumanganj police station.
Mishra was accused of sharing Umesh Pal's location from Prayagraj court before the latter along with his two police guards were shot dead outside his residence on February 24 this year.
Umesh Pal was prime witness in 2005 Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Raju Pal murder case.
As per the initial investigation, Mishra had gone to Lucknow for some benami transactions, and was accompanied by a woman connected to the Umesh Pal murder case, officers said.
