Gandhi, who is spearheading the party's east-to-west march, will rejoin the yatra in Jalpaiguri district on Sunday after a two-day break. The yatra traversed into the Coochbehar district of West Bengal from Assam on Thursday morning. "On January 25, Rahul Gandhi had gone back to Delhi following which the yatra was paused for two days. He is scheduled to rejoin the yatra on January 28," state Congress leader Amitabha Chakraborty said.
The denial of permission to Gandhi's public meeting in Siliguri came close on the heels of Banerjee declaring that her Trinamool Congress (TMC) will go solo in West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, in a major jolt to the opposition INDIA bloc.
