Five rescued after 2nd floor flat catches fire in SW Delhi

At least seven people, including three children aged between seven and 12, were trapped after a fire broke out on a second-floor flat of a four-story residential building in Mohan Garden area of southwest Delhi on Friday morning, fire department officials aware of the matter said.

They were all rescued safely by firemen who use ladders to pull out those trapped.

Deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, "The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident." Five of those rescued, including two children, were safely taken out by firefighters, who used two ladders to help the victims climb down from the balcoInies of the third and fourth floors. Two others escaped as soon as the fire started, the officials said.

At least two videos of the rescue operation were released on social media by the fire department.

Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said that the fire control room received a call at 10.14 am regarding the incident. "We pressed six fire tenders into service. Our firemen rescued three children and two adults from the top two floors, where they were trapped with at least four other occupants. The firefighting and rescue operation continued for nearly two hours.
