Namo Bharat services set to open to public from today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the country's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Friday - a 17km priority stretch in Ghaziabad between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot. Trains operating on the corridor have been named Namo Bharat, and the stretch will open for the public on Saturday, officials with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the agency constructing the corridor, said.

The first of the 10 Namo Bharat trains will simultaneously leave the Sahibabad and the Duhai Depot stations at 6am, the officials said.

The initial frequency of the trains will be 15 minutes, with a stop of 30 seconds at each of the five stations.

"All facilities and resources have been put in place, and the first train will leave simultaneously from the Sahibabad station and the Duhai Depot station at 6am. More than 50% the staff for operations and maintenance are women, which will help women commuters feel safe," an NCRTC spokesperson said.
