The case against the dean, Dr Shyamrao Wakode, and head of the paediatric department of Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital was registered on Wednesday on a complaint by a family after they lost their 22-year-old daughter and her newborn in a span of 48 hours.
HT has seen a copy of the FIR. While the FIR did not name the head of the paediatric department, hospital records seen by HT show that Dr Kishor Rathod holds the position. The two hospital members have been booked under Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common interest) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"The FIR has been registered. We are investigating the case," Jagdish Bhandarwar, an inspector at Nanded Gramin police station, said.
