Turning up for his first session hours after landing in Las Vegas, Nishant informed the coach about the 18-hour flight and that he hadn't trained for more than a month. He expected a light opening day.
"On that day itself, I trained for about 26 rounds -eight rounds of shadow boxing, bags, circle drills," Nishant said, after checking into the vibrant US city with a rich boxing culture for the first time.
The 71kg World Championships bronze medallist in 2023 will camp in Las Vegas for three months, training with his coach Ronald Simms under whom he developed into the boxer he is now at the Inspire Institute of Sport. After not touching his boxing gloves for over a month once Paris was done, this off-season block, the 23-year-old said, is the right time to move out of his "comfort zone".
