KEVIN PIETERSEN tore into England’s plodding attack after their “shambolic” waste of ideal conditions to rattle the Aussies.

With a green pitch, overcast skies and steam-bath humidity at the mercy of bowlers like Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson, Ben Stokes appeared to have won a vital toss.

But England wasted it – and former skipper Pietersen lambasted them for sending the speed gun to sleep, “swanning around,” and being too chummy with their Ashes rivals.

In an extraordinary outburst during the tea interval on Sky Sports, KP let rip, blasting: “It has been shambolic. You have overhead conditions, a wicket that suits your bowlers, and you’ve got bowlers running in at 78, 79, 80 miles per hour.
