It's a Derry good night for the Irish

IT was a great night for the Irish at the BAFTA TV Awards as both Derry Girls and Bad Sisters scooped two gongs each at the glitzy bash.

The Northern show was one of the winners as Siobhan McSweeney won the Best Female Performance in a Comedy while Lisa McGee's show was also named the Best Scripted Comedy.

Fellow Irish writer Sharon Horgan, 52, was also celebrating as her creation, Bad Sisters, won Best Supporting Actress for Anne-Marie Duff, as well as Best Drama Series.

However, there was no such luck for Cork's Cillian Murphy, 46, as the Peaky Blinders star lost out in the Best Actor category to Ben Whishaw in BBC One's This Is Going To Hurt.
