The Dublin GAA star fell foul of the public vote as he and partner Salome Chachua became the third couple voted off the show last night.
They danced a passionate tango to Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars.
Despite recording the highest score of the season and topping the leader board last week, their dance fell flat with just 16 points.
Speaking after he was eliminated, Paul thanked Salome for all her hard work. She replied: "Thank you so much. You were amazing. A great time we had.
Paul told the Irish Mirror how he was more shocked that he managed to get a massive score last week.
He said he would be back to the day job as an engineer for the ESB from tomorrow but will miss rehearsals.
Earlier, judge Arthur Gourounlian said his performance was "powerful" but Brian Redmond said eight lifts in the tango was "pushing it".
