Rise in complaints at LGBTQ+ school books

A TD has called for a review of children's reading lists after a rise in complaints about "inappropriate" school books.

Carol Nolan claims an increasing number of parents have called her office amid a row on sex education and LGBTQ+ books that has seen libraries targeted by demos.

The Independent TD for Laois Offaly highlighted has called on Education Minister Norma Foley to have talks with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.

Ms Nolan highlighted This Book is Gay by Juno Dawson, which was removed from the programme's recommended Junior Cycle reading list.
