JIM McCORRY has always been a man in demand.

A man at the coalface, and he continues to be. His age remains a mystery, but he had his bus pass, he jokes, and the phone calls still keep coming.

He’s with Burren for two years. The Down club fed 12 players into the county under20 ranks this year and six into the senior panel.

Burren also have Paddy Burns, the Armagh defender, who is married in the area.

McCorry says the stick has kicked off in the Whatsapp group ahead of tomorrow’s Down/Armagh Ulster semifinal derby at Clones.

He couldn’t be any more Armagh/Down - if there is such a thing.

McCorry lives in Rostrevor (Down) and has spent years trekking and cycling about the Mournes. He comes from Lurgan (Armagh).

The St. Paul’s man coached Killeavy (Armagh) and managed Armagh in the 90s (1991-95),

He did two years with Armagh minors (alongside Denis Hollywood, Brendan Hughes and Paul Kelly) winning an Ulster title and did three years as Kieran McGeeney’s assistant manager (2019-21).

Way back at the beginning he managed Drumgath (Down) to a Division 3 title – beating Kilcoo in the final.

McCorry won two League and Championship doubles with Mayobridge.
