Wheelchair user Adrian left to crawl down steps from plane

AN airport has apologised to an Irish passenger in a wheelchair who crawled off a plane because staff were unavailable to help him.

Adrian Keogh, 37, claimed he was "humiliated" in the incident last Saturday and said he wants to be treated with dignity.

The incident happened at Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, which has now apologised to him.

Adrian, from Wicklow, said that he was told, after his Ryanair flight landed at 11pm, that it would take an hour for appropriate personnel to arrive.

But Adrian, who has used a wheelchair since 2015, following a spinal injury from a construction accident, was in pain, needed the bathroom, and did not want to wait until midnight for help.

His brother offered to carry him down the steps from the plane, but Adrian feared another injury if they fell.

Adrian said: "They were steep, corrugated steel steps.
