THE family of a dad who died days after getting a sore throat have spoken of their devastation.
Jay Dignam, from Blackley, passed away two days after developing the common symptom on November 3.
His loved ones say the popular dad-of-two had no prior health problems and his sudden death has left them in complete shock.
Jay was just 50 years old at the time of his passing and leaves behind daughters Milly, 18 and Scarlet, 10.
His heartbroken sister, Emma Dunn, says the cause of his death is under investigation and they still don't have answers.
The 34-year-old has now revealed the heartbreaking moment she was given the news.
"My older brother rang me and told me," she said.
