A ‘FIT AND HEALTHY’ 25-year-old man who was found dead in his father’s Ashton apartment died of ‘natural causes’, a coroner has concluded.
David Horsfield, known to his family as ‘Didi’, was pronounced dead on January 22. An inquest into his death found the maintenance technician, who worked at a factory in Dukinfield, choked on his vomit.
Manchester South Coroners Court in Stockport heard that an ‘acute medical event’, such as a seizure, is likely to have led to his death. However, the nature of this medical event could not be determined.
Speaking at the inquest on Friday, Didi’s father David Morton said he has been ‘clutching at straws’ to find out what happened to his son. He described Didi as ‘the nicest, caring young man you’ll ever meet’.
He said: “I’m just looking for a reason why my son’s been taken away, why he’s not here anymore.”
Tearfully, Mr Morton added: “He was a better man than me. He was a good brother and a good son. Very forgiving and caring and absent minded – but that’s all of us right?”
Didi, who moved into his father’s flat after his parents divorced, worked night shifts at Northpoint – a powder coating service in Dukinfield where his dad used to work. An army reservist, Mr Morton told the inquest of the last time he saw his son on Friday, January 19.
