Chad Rimmington, 32, was sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison after Kathleen Kirby was killed in Wigan.
He will serve two thirds of this sentence in prison.
Rimmington had fled from officers 'at great speed' in an Audi TT after they tried to pull him over, Bolton Crown Court heard. He reached speeds of up to 78mph in a 30mph zone.
He crashed into an Amazon delivery van, with the vehicle then spinning out of control and hitting 66-year-old Ms Kirby. She was killed and her partner, Cliff Bullen narrowly avoided a similar fate.
