Paul Rowley's ability to see the lighter side of life as Salford Red Devils head coach is admirable after a year that threw up challenges that would test the resolve of even the most resolute of characters.
The Reds boss has seen his talented squad dismantled in front of his eyes, and what makes matters worse is that it's been entirely out of his control.
"It's like tarantula theory," he quips. "The first time I'll move my hand off frightened to death, after ten times I just let it bite me." But beyond Rowley's affable exterior is a man who, first and foremost, sees his players as his family.
