THERE was extra festive sparkle in Manchester city centre as the city's first ever Christmas Parade brought joy to thousands of spectators lining the streets on Sunday.
Huge crowds cheered on the festive first - which is said to be the only Christmas Parade of its kind in the UK.
More than 200 parade participants donned a raft of eye-popping festive outfits to become walking candy canes, cheeky elves, cocky robins and even a walking snow globe to take part in the procession which began on Deansgate. It then weaved its way through St Ann's Street, Cross Street and Market Street as thousands of young and old cheered.
It was all led out by the big red man himself - Santa Claus - and a very festive version of Manchester's iconic Town Hall Clock. The parade was then filled with everyone's favourite festive things like runaway presents, dancing snowmen and magical puppets including a giant reindeer, arctic fox and snowy owl.
