FIRE crews tackled a blaze at a derelict mill through the night.
The fire broke out at the Compstall Mills building, in Romiley, Stockport, just after 6pm on Wednesday. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen for miles billowing overhead.
Eight fire engines raced to the scene, as well as the Technical Response Unit.
Crews worked 'tirelessly' in 'difficult conditions' to extinguish the blaze at the mill through the night.
Yesterday morning, the fire service response had been scaled down but a number of crews remained on the scene to dampen down any hotspots.
