Foden hails dream pairing

PHIL Foden says partnering with Rico Lewis in midfield for Manchester City is a dream come true, as he echoed his manager's sentiments on the youngster's potential.

Lewis stood out in a number eight role at RB Leipzig on Wednesday, darting into the area to set up Foden also playing in midfield for City's opening goal. After Lewis' all-action display, Pep Guardiola said the teenager was one of the best youngsters he has ever trained.

And when that assessment was put to Foden after the win at the Red Bull Arena, the fellow academy graduate fully agreed. "He's one of the best young players I've seen," said Foden, explaining how Lewis changes City's approach when he's on the pitch.

"He seems to up our tempo when he's dead sharp in the pockets and makes us play a bit quicker. He had a good game - two Academy players linking for the goal is nice to see.
