TWO men have been jailed for the savage killing of a ‘gentle giant’ in his own home.
Beloved dad Warren Burns, who had just become a father again to a 10-week-old son, was battered to death after Ryan White and Damian White stormed into his home in Withington.
Mr Burns was kicked, stamped on, punched and beaten, and died three days later from his injuries.
His partner Lucille Lee, and their baby, were both at home at the time and fled from the house in fear during the brutal attack.
Ryan White was convicted of murder following a trial at Manchester Crown Court. Damian White was convicted of manslaughter.
At a sentencing hearing yesterday, Ryan White was jailed for life to serve a minimum term of 17 years in prison. His relative Damian White was jailed for 11 years.
The court heard that members of the White family assembled on the afternoon of May 21 this year, with two cars travelling in convoy to the house on Heysham Avenue.
They then knocked on the door of Mr Burns and asked to see him when Ms Lee answered.
“It was not a social or friendly visit,” prosecutor Nicholas Lumley KC told the trial.
