A YOUNG girl was forced to wear mittens to bed for three years after her skin became 'addicted' to steroid cream.
Four-year-old Emilia has now been 'cured' after going 'cold turkey, according to her mother.
She started using topical creams when she developed a suspected fungal infection and eczema as an infant.
Her mother, Heather Tarry, 40, explained that her daughter began ascending the 'steroid ladder' utilising stronger creams as the lower dose became less effective.
Every attempt to wean her off the prescription resulted in Emilia's skin flaring up again, leading them back to square one. However, in November 2022, Heather decided to stop applying steroids to her daughter after learning about individuals who had resolved their skin problems by abandoning the creams.
