THE watchdog of firm operators behind a landfill site emitting a 'horrific stench' insists it continues to work closely to improve the situation.
Residents have reported the 'awful' smell from the Pilsworth South landfill site situated next to the M66 between Bury and Heywood - for months. Some residents have even reported sealing up windows and vents.
The issue has been so bad that a petition of almost 4,000 people has now been signed calling for an intense investigation into the site which prompted a visit from mayor Andy Burnham who said it 'took me aback.
