SURROUNDED by tinsel and baubles and with a huge beaming smile on his face, baby Rivan is enjoying all the fun of Christmas at home with his thankful family.
But it might not have been a celebration - as the 18-month-old's life was saved by NHS 'angels' after he was struck down by pneumonia which led to one of his lungs collapsing.
Rivan's parents told how he's been 'all around the wards' at two hospitals, but is now back at home, Rivan, from Ince in Wigan, was admitted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool after spending a week at Warrington Hospital. A viral infection he caught led to a collapsed lung and the onset of pneumonia.
His parents, Lucy and Simon Reid, first suspected something wasn't right when they noticed he had a high temperature which they couldn't control and a runny nose. They told how he was also rapidly losing weight, and began to grunt when he was breathing.
