DIRECTOR PLAYS 11 ROLES AFTER CHRISTMAS SHOW CAST FALL ILL

A THEATRE'S artistic director had to play ELEVEN roles herself to save a Christmas show.

Due to illness, three of the cast of Bolton Octagon's Around The World in 80 Days could not perform.

But Lotte Wakeham made her acting debut at the theatre, stepping into the role of Lady Eliza Sullivan and 10 supporting characters including a farmer, jailer, newspaper boy, and the gangster AI Capone for three performances.

Olivia Chandler, the understudy actor for the production, took on the role of Phileas Fogg's butler, Passepartout, and local actor Jacob Butler played the role of undercover journalist Khatri after just one rehearsal.

Lotte said: "We know that a trip to the theatre is a beloved festive tradition for many families, so we didn't want to let audiences down and we wanted to avoid cancelling as many performances as possible.
