THESE pictures show just how treacherous it can be for cyclists to navigate a much-ridiculed bike lane – part of a £13.4m green project intended to make travel in and out of Manchester city centre sustainable.
They show cars and vans – and even one highways maintenance vehicle – parked in the middle of a stretch of the controversial ‘Manchester to Chorlton Cycleway’, with many of the inconsiderate drivers captured thought to be visiting the many restaurants and takeaways on Barlow Moor Road.
It means those cyclists brave enough to use the bike path - which has been criticised for being ‘wonky’ and severely affecting businesses who describe the project as their ‘death knell’ – are obliged to veer into the road.
